Weather conditions are similar year-round in Santa Clara County (the greater San Jose area), but keep in mind that it gets pretty hot during the summer months and much colder during winter months, compared to many other parts of California.  The average high temperature for July is 88 degrees Fahrenheit (31 degrees Celsius) and for January it’s 56 degrees Fahrenheit (13 degrees Celsius). The city sees an average of 49 inches of rain per year, with most falling between November and March. Most rainfall occurs from mid-autumn through early spring; however, there can be heavy showers at any time during the year.

Where are the best places to stay?

According to resident Heidi Blair, there are a number of places where you can stay when you visit. There are lots of small hotels that offer a great experience at affordable prices. You can also book with local hosts in neighborhoods or rent out an apartment for your trip. And if you’re feeling adventurous, why not go camping? It’s a great way to save money and really get away from it all. But no matter what you choose, make sure to ask around before booking so you know exactly what kind of place you’re getting into. The last thing anyone wants is a bad hotel experience while they’re trying to relax!

When to visit?

It’s often good to visit during the off-season when things are cheaper, which is why Heidi Blair of San Jose suggests planning your vacation for a week that is not in July or August.  That way you can take advantage of lower prices and fewer crowds. Plus, it’s nice to avoid high temperatures and humidity. If you plan your trip right, you could even find some great deals on hotels and airfare. Heidi Blair has been living in and around San Jose for over many years, so she knows how to save people money. If you want to get a good deal, plan your trip right and book early. Hotels will often offer discounts if you book more than two months in advance. If you do decide to wait until the last minute, Heidi Blair recommends booking at least four weeks out. This will ensure that you have plenty of time to find an affordable flight as well as secure a hotel room at a reasonable price.
