As of March 2021, this feature is limited to the WhatsApp desktop app that you need to download for either your Mac or Windows computer. If you are using WhatsApp Web – which is browse based, the WhatsApp calling feature will not be enabled for you.
So before trying out this feature, ensure that you are indeed using the standalone WhatsApp Desktop app for either Windows or macOS.

The call should now start. The three dots in the upper right corner allow you to select the audio source, just like with Skype, Meet and Co.
The app even allows you to accept calls directly from your computer. / © NextPit
Note: Answering incoming calls also works on the computer
