ApolloMD Emergency Medicine Scholarship for Residents Now Open

The 5th Annual ApolloMD Emergency Medicine Scholarship for Residents is open

The 5th Annual ApolloMD Emergency Medicine Scholarship for Residents is open. The program supports students pursuing a career in emergency medicine. Applications close June 15. The 2022 recipient will be announced in August.


“We’re constantly inspired by our passionate young physician colleagues,” praises Yogin Patel, MD, President of ApolloMD. “The work that Emergency Medicine physicians do is incredible. We hope to use this scholarship program to support them.”


Applicants must be:


In good standing with an allopathic or osteopathic medical school (U.S.)

Pursuing a career in Emergency Medicine

Participating in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) or training in an Emergency Medicine Residency Program.

Other qualifying factors include scholarly achievements and leadership/membership in accredited medical societies/organizations.


The 2022 recipient will join these esteemed former winners who have all launched EM careers: 


2021 — Dr. Travis Eurick earned both his bachelor’s and medical degree from University of Southern California, and is currently a resident at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego, CA.

“As a first-generation college graduate, it feels surreal that I get to live my dream of being a physician,” Dr. Eurick effuses. “For students like me, generous gifts like the ApolloMD scholarship make it possible for us to achieve that dream. Thank you for investing in the next generation of physicians.”


2020 — Dr. Bassam Zahid earned his bachelor’s degree from Boston College in Massachusetts and his medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. He completed his residency with the Stony Brook University Department of Emergency Medicine in Stony Brook, NY.

“Thank you, ApolloMD, for your generosity, said Dr. Zahid. “I’m not only inspired to continue striving toward excellence as an EM physician, but motivated to work harder and dream bigger as I continue building my career.”


2019 — Dr. Jana Florian earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine in Massachusetts.

“As a new EM physician, this award is a wonderful privilege to support me as I enter a chapter full of big changes, growth and learning,” Dr. Florian confirms. “Thank you for recognizing and cheering on the next generation of EM trainees.”


2018 — Dr. Loren Touma earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida and her medical degree from William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Hattiesburg, MS.

“I feel honored and humbled to be selected for the first ApolloMD Emergency Medicine Residency Scholarship,” reveals Dr. Touma. “My goal is to advocate for the medical profession at both the grassroots and national level.”
